|Subject:||Global hook and sniff / fetch text string from other applications|

Does anyone have any idea on how to make a utility application that is able to sniff the component class of "whatever" the mouse is pointing at? And how to "post" a postmessage to fetch the "text" of the component (if any).
I have a database application where the user have to enter some extreamly long technical addresses - I would like to offet the user to "sniff" those addresses from the application where they are generated/present, the problem is that the text string is not made available for e.g. copy/paste. They are available however on a dialog form in the title of the form (the application is probably written in VC).
I'm thinking something like this
Make an application that installs a hook that lists the "classes" pointed at.
Then when I know what classes I need to sniff - then see if they respond to a sendmessage gettext something.
If so, make a copy of the text to the clipboard.
Then the user will be able to paste the text in to my application.
Can this be done?
