Updating app executable from itself?

Okay, another stupid question... Or stupid person :)

I want my app to connect to a server, check for an update of itself, download it, __replace its own executable with the new one__ and restart automatically so the new version runs!
Can this be done? And especially in Vista or Windows7 with its security in the /Program Files/ directory?

I don't have an installation system yet either, I am still in 'Alpha' stage...
